Kupwara, August 4:

The Divisional Forest Officer, Kamraj Forest Division, Mr. Owais Farooq Mir, undertook a comprehensive field tour of North Lolab Range today to review forest protection measures, inspect CAMPA works, and address a pending demarcation issue.

The visit began with a joint inspection at JNV School Patushai, Lolab, where the DFO was accompanied by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Lolab, Range Officer North Lolab, and Revenue Officials. The team conducted on-spot verification of boundaries and thoroughly reviewed demarcation records. The issue was resolved amicably through coordinated efforts, ensuring clarity and mutual understanding between departments.

Later, the DFO inspected CAMPA Closure 85/NL in Khurhama Forest Block to review the ongoing fencing work under the CAMPA programme. The inspection focused on evaluating protection measures and the overall maintenance of the closure. Necessary directions were issued to strengthen fencing, improve ground conditions, and ensure long-term ecological restoration.

The field tour concluded at Forest Rest House (FRH) Thayen, where the DFO reviewed forest protection arrangements and interacted with frontline staff. On-ground patrolling records, movement registers, and other documentation were verified. The DFO appreciated the dedicated efforts of the field personnel and emphasized intensified patrolling in sensitive areas, maintenance of uniformed presence, and timely reporting of forest offences. He also encouraged greater community involvement in forest protection.

This multi-location field inspection is part of the Forest Division’s broader initiative to strengthen transparency, operational efficiency, and grassroots vigilance across all ranges.
