Kulgam Police arrested two more notorious drug peddlers and recovered huge quantity of contraband substances

Kulgam/Feb/23,/2023:> In its continuous offensive against menace of drug abuse, under the command of SP Kulgam *Shri. Sahil Sarangal-IPS*, Kulgam Police continues its war against drugs.Acting swiftly upon a specific information generated by Kulgam police regarding the transportation of drugs in the jurisdiction of PP JT, a special team headed by IC PP JT *SI Showkat Ahmad* established a Naka at *Lowermunda, Qazigund* and apprehended one notorious drug peddler, who tried to avoid the police party in a suspicious manner. The identity of the drug peddler was ascertained as; *Ubaid Ahmad Sofi son of Mohd Maqbool Sofi a resident of Sangam Bijebhara, district Anantnag*. During checking officers present were able to recover *02 KG of Charas* like contraband substance.Similarly, in an another incident at *Damidulla crossing* a special Naka was established by the joint police parties of Police station Yaripora and PP Frisal and during thorough checking one drug peddler namely; *Mohd Yaqoob Malik a resident of Arwani Bijebhara* was apprehended and from his possession *03.87 gram of Heroin* like contraband substance was recovered.Regarding the incidents Case with FIR No. 23/2023 U/S 8/20 of NDPS Act and Case with FIR No. 07/2023 U/S 8/21 of NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station *Qazigund* and Police station *Yaripora* respectively and further investigation is in progress.It is pertinent to mention that Kulgam Police is committed to continue its offensive against the drug peddlers. Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding antisocial activities in their vicinity so that timely action against the culprits will be taken.
