NHM employees hold district level convention; constitute district level body

DODA, Oct 08: 

To mitigate & highlight it's various long pending & genuine demands and in order to unite all employees on one platform, a district level convention cum meeting of National Health Mission employees of District Doda was held at Town Hall Doda on Sunday. 

The District Level Convention was organized under the banner of, All J&K NHM Employees Association, which was attended by a large gathering of 200 employees viz Medical Officers, Paramedics & Management Staff from different medical blocks including staff from GMC Doda and ANMT School Doda. 

The convention begins with the welcome speech given by Sh Faizan A Tramboo (Former District President) who welcomed all the participants and presented the agenda points with regard to organizing of the convention and the activities done by the union in the past. 

During the convention, policy for regularization, transfer policy for those living outside the district, implementation of equal pay equal work, enhancement of salary including outsourced DEOs and in time salaries of  NHM employees was highlighted by the speakers.

The speakers during the programme said that the employees working under different NHM schemes are doing commendable job in the overall delivery system across J&K especially in the remotest and in accessible areas since decades, adding that it is most heartbreaking to see that yet no mechanism is in place to regularize our services, despite the fact NHM employees constitute as being backbone of the health department after giving valuable years of their prime youth in the service of people under NHM. 

Further, it was also pointed out by the speakers that the denial of genuine demands of NHM employees since long, amounts to unsurping their basic rights and right to equal wages for equal work, guaranteed under the constitution of India.

The employees during the convention urged upon the LG Administration and other Sr Functionaries of J&K UT to come up to the expectations of the employees and concede their genuine demands, so that they may not suffer anymore and live the life of dignity & equality. 

The speakers who put forth their views in the convention included Dr Hamid Parray, Dr Manjeet Singh, Dr Sadeeq Wani, Dr Farhat Abass, Dr Shazia Shakeel, Sh Arshad Zaffar (BAM) and Dr Younis Saleem (President CHOs Association). 

Meanwhile at the end of the convention, a District level body was also constituted through proper election, in which Dr Nasir Masood was elected as new District  President while Dr Younis Saleem as Vice President, Dr Manjeet Singh as Gen Secretary, Dr Shazia Shakeel as Spokesperson, Mohd Rafiq as Cashier and Sh Arshad Zaffar as Coordinator whereas Dr Hamid Parray, Dr Farhat Abass, Sh Jahangir Mehta, Sh Faizan Elahi, Dr Sadeeq Wani, Sh Umar Anayat, Ms Nargis Jahan, Dr Faheem Wani, Sh Pinku Sharma and Dr Vijay Kumar (CHO) were nominated as members of District Advisory Committee.
