Department of Community Medicine GMC Doda observed World Rabies Day-2022

World Rabies Day-2022
The world Rabies Day 2022 was commemorated at Government Medical college Doda which was organised by Department of Community Medicine.
On this occasion the pledge was taken to create mass awareness about the deadly disease across Chenab valley.

This year World Rabies theme is "Rabies: One Health, Zero Deaths This theme emphasizes the importance of a healthy being. It sends out the
message that the medical facilities all around the world are enough strong to curb the fatality of the deadliest diseases the vaccines, medicines, tools,
and technologies to break the cycle of one of the deadliest diseases in the world. 

To mark the occasion, Documentaries regarding Rabies, clips of patients,presentations was played in main premises of OPD Block, Apart from the
students of MBBS, Paramedical provided awareness to all patients whowere present in OPD, under the supervision of Senior Resident doctor Dr Walied K Balwan along with team of Junior Residents Dr Arif Beig, Dr Renuka Katoch, Dr Arjun Singh & Dr Najamus saqib.


The head of Department Dr Suresh K Kotwal while delivery talk said media has to play active role in creating awareness about rabies in Chenab
valley, during presentation it was informed that till September this year, 403 cases of rabies have been registered at Anti-Rabies clinic AH GMC Doda.

The Event was attended by Principal Medical college Doda Dr Noor Ali Medical superintendent Dr Yudhvir Kotwal, Dy. CMO Dr. Om Kumar, HOD
Pediatrics Dr. Neeraj Gupta, Senior Eye consultant Dr. Farooq Runyal and CAO Mr. Mohd. Iqbal.
Principal Medical College while appreciating the efforts of Department of community medicine under supervision of Dr. Kotwal making it possible to start Anti -Rabies Clinic in GMC Doda against all odds which didn't provide free vaccines/serum to all the patients from all regions of Chenab valley
but at the same time proper counselling and awareness of all patients on every follow up visits.
