 GIRLS BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT 06-07 OCTOBER 2022

Indian Army at Doda organised Girl Basket Tournament at City Middle School in Doda from 06th October 2022 to 07th October 2022. A total of six teams within the district participated in the tournament. The matches were contested with zeal and vigor not only by the players but also by the cheering crowd. The tournament concluded on 7th October 2022 and Team  Fitness Club Doda emerged as winners and Team Girls Higher Secondary School as runner ups. The match was witnessed by the Colonel Ankur Sharma, Commanding Officer 10 Rashtriya Rifles who then felicitated the winners with the trophy and medals. The tournament received an overwhelming response with a huge gathering of 200 cheering crowd.
The tournament was aimed at promoting basketball as a sport other than cricket and volleyball which is quite popular amongst the youth. It also gave a platform for girls to participate and empowered them to excel in sporting activities.  Apart from trophies to winning and runner up teams, basketballs were distributed to each participants. Such sports activities foster a healthy spirit of competition, discipline and will amongst youth and also engage them positively. The people of the area wholeheartedly appreciated the support provided by Indian Army to encourage sports activities among youth in Doda district. This step will help in giving a boost to development of sports in Doda region and also foster social and communal harmony among students.
