Food Safety, DFCO, Doda conducts Special Surveillance on packaged Spices and Condiments in District Doda
Doda, November 11; In compliance to the directions of Commissioner, FDA, J&K laying stress on extensive drive on packaged Commodities including Spices and Condiments today teams of Enforcement Officers led by the Assistant Commissioner Food Safety District Doda accompanied by Food Safety Officers across the District took random samples of Spices and Condiments of Different categories and Brands. The teams lifted 15 samples for analysis at National Food Lab. Ghaziabad under FSSA. This drive is ahead of another special drive which is at hand especially on Trans fats through FSSAI across the Country including UT J&K.
The FSSAI regulations prohibit the sale of powdered Spices and Condiments in loose form. It also prohibit the sale of Compounded asafoetida exceeding one 1kg in weight except in proper container with proper labelling. These drives with maximum coverage to all the Food Commodities shall continue to map the market Surveillance and ensure safe, pure, qaulity and Wholesome food items to the Consumers and public in General. The basic motto is to prevent the consumption of adulterted items including Spices too. Spieces are the basic requirements in our daily meals. Adulteration of ground Spices and various Edible and non-edible materials makes it risky for consumption.
