Weekly Block Diwas held at 5 locations in the District

Doda, January 04; UT administration has taken multiple campaigns/ initiatives wherein administration reaches to the people at their doorsteps to assess the disparities in the development, listen to the public aspirations and plan out a holistic programme to address their genuine issues and aspirations. Block Diwas program is one among them which is held at various designated locations on every Wednesday in district Doda.
This week, Block Diwas program was held at five  different locations in the district. The locations include, Panchayat Ghar Dugli A, Sub District Bhaderwah; Panchayat Dhadkaie, Sub Division Gandoh; PWD Guest House Baggar ( Panchayat Karmail), Sub Division Assar; High School Nagni, Panchayat Bhatoli, Tehsil Kahara, Sub Division Thathri; and Tehsil Headquarter Doda.
 People in large numbers attended the Block Diwas at all the five locations where DC, SSP, ADCs, SDMs and Other District and sectoral officers interacted with them. 
 The whole programme was held under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Doda Vishesh Paul Mahajan.

DC Doda Vishesh Paul Mahajan along with SSP Doda Abdul Qayoom and other District officers interacted with PRIs and public at Tehsil Headquarter Doda. 

SSP Doda while speaking to the audience applauded the efforts of the public and PRIs in maintaining communal harmony in the district. He informed while interacting with the gathering that an 'Intelligence Sharing' group shall be made with Sarpanches, Panches, other PRIs, Lumberdars, Chowkidars, SHOs, Chowki Officers, VDCs, with full working 24×7 control room. The Intelligence Sharing group shall report on every untoward incident, suspect or uncommon activity in their area which shall be taken up immediately with DM and SSP for timely action.

PRIs including Sarpanches of Panchayat Trown, Baboor, Koti and other adjoining areas of Tehsil Doda appreciated the efforts of District Administration for holding special rural revenue camps under 'Aap Ka Tehsildar Apkey Gaon Mai' initiative. They informed that this unique initiative has been instrumental in bringing the services of revenue department to deserving, unattended and far off people at their doorsteps.  

DC has issued instructions to the concerned for; early establishment of ATM and public washroom at Tehsil complex Doda; immediate start of work at NTPHC Pranoo; DPR &  execution of Swanda to Chaipani and other demanded roads; establishment of ATM at Trown; purchase of necessary equipments for Chenab Rescuers (NGO); steel poles for Koti Panchayat; street lights for Akram Abad near MRF; and other issues raised during the Block Diwas program held at Tehsil Headquarter Doda.

DC has informed that special on-wheel drive shall be started in next 10 days for the beneficiaries of Social Welfare department who require age certificate for old age pension,  disability certificate for Handicapped pension and other required certificates.
Speaking on the menace of domestic stray animals in the Doda town, DC instructed EO MC Doda to auction the stray, unclaimed domestic animals to remove the nuisance and inconvenience faced by the public in the town. DC also spoke on use of Dustbin, and sought public cooperation in making the district clean. He asked for avoiding use of banned single use plastic and instructed the concerned to enforce strictly the laws regulating the use of such banned items made of plastic. DC, while underlining the importance of anti drugs drive in the district, indicated that the war against drug peddlers shall be intensified in the coming days to curb the menace. 

The Block Diwas mechanism has been instrumental in bridging the gap between people and administration.
During the day long Block Diwas proceedings Public and PRIs put forth a range of issues/ demands at other four locations across the district. The Presiding officers of the Block Diwas gave patient hearing to the issues and demands and directed the concerned officers to prepare a list of issues/grievances raised pertaining to their departments and resolve the same at an earliest.
