Govt. Medical College Doda marked the 78th Independence Day with a grand celebration on its campus. The event was graced by principal  Dr Rakesh Bahl, Dr Tanveer Rather (Medical Superintendent) HODs, faculty members and residents from all the departments, officers from College administration and all other staff members. The ceremony witnessed the hoisting of the tricolor by Dr Rakesh Bahl  at the campus's playground to partake in the celebrations. The atmosphere was charged with patriotic zeal in the resounding strains of the national anthem and  spirited cultural activities in the Premises of college.


Addressing the gathering Dr Rakesh Bahl expressed happiness over being part of this new institution whose students have been excelling extraordinarily in all walks including academics, co curricular, sports and social activities including swachhta abhiyan and plantation drives."It is the diversity of culture, language and beliefs that has given birth to institutions and hospital in peripheral areas , where excellence and compassion converge. Whether it’s the underprivileged community or the missing middle, our institution believes that health is not a privilege but a right for all. Let this flag remind us that we are the custodians of health and hope."

To mark this momentous occasion, the institute also participated in  plantation drive with campaign "Ek Paed Shaheedon ke Naam " 
The program ended with felicitation  with awards to meritorious students of MBBS. It is pertinent to mention that two girl students of first year stood first in university examination and four distinctions were awarded to four students for subject of Physiology.Even encouraging was the performance of the senior batches who bagged distinctions in Pathology, Microbiology and Biochemistry. Principal congratulated all the students and attributed their excellence to the unwavering efforts and contributions of their teachers who despite of being in very small numbers could give such results.  Before this, a gala function was held in Associated Hospital Doda where all faculty members of clinical departments, nursing and paramedical staff members under the able guidance of Medical Superintendent Dr Tanveer Rather  participated with patriotic zeal. Similar kind of program was also held in Govt Nursing College,  GMC Doda ,field practice areas at UHTC Ghat and  RHTC Bhalla  under department of Community Medicine GMC doda.
