DODA POLICE CRACKS THEFT CASE WITHIN 24 HOURS — LADY THIEF ARRESTED AND STOLEN GOLD ORNAMENTS WORTH LAKHS RECOVERED

In a swift and effective operation, District Police Doda solved a theft case within 24 hours of its registration by arresting the accused woman and recovering stolen gold ornaments worth several lakhs of rupees.

On 12.11.2025, one lady namely Reshma Devi W/o Sandeep Singh, R/o Ziyani, Kastigarh, District Doda, presently residing on rent in the IGNOU Centre Building, Bun Doda, appeared before Police Station Doda along with her husband and lodged a written complaint.

The complainant stated that on 08.11.2025, at about 8:00 PM, she had gone to fetch water from Ghanta Ghar (Clock Tower), Doda. Upon returning after about an hour, she found the lid of her suitcase (attachi) open and, on checking, noticed that gold ornaments including a Mangalsutra, Nose Ring (Nath), Tikka, Earrings, and other jewellery items — worth several lakhs of rupees — were missing.

It was suspected that some unknown person(s) had entered her rented room during her absence and committed theft of the said items.

Acting promptly on the complaint, a case FIR No. 255/2025 U/S 331(4)/305 BNS was registered at Police Station Doda, and investigation was taken up.

On the directions of *SSP Doda Sh. Sandeep Mehta, JKPS,* a special team was constituted, led by SHO Police Station Doda Insp. Parvaiz Ahmed Khanday under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Doda Sh. Krishan Rattan.

Through sustained efforts, technical assistance, and meticulous investigation, the police team succeeded in solving the case within 24 hours by arresting one lady namely Shabnam Begum W/o Irshad Ahmed, R/o Kastigarh, A/P Bun Doda.

During sustained questioning, the accused confessed to her involvement in the crime, and upon her disclosure, the stolen gold ornaments worth lakhs of rupees were recovered from her possession.

The swift and professional action by Doda Police leading to the arrest of the accused and recovery of stolen property within 24 hours has been widely appreciated by the general public.
