Government Medical College (GMC) Doda Observes World AIDS Day with Awareness Programme and Rally

Doda, December 1, 2025 Government Medical College (GMC) Doda commemorated World AIDS Day by organizing an impactful awareness programme and a rally aimed at educating the public on overcoming disruptions in healthcare and strengthening the collective response to HIV/AIDS.

The event was held at the Main Campus of GMC Doda, while the awareness rally was organized at the Associate Hospital Doda. The activities were led by MBBS students and conducted under the guidance of Dr. Aishiya Ishrat, Head of the Department of Microbiology.

 Demonstrators and resident doctors from the department Dr. Azhar Saleem Zargar, Dr. Shariq and Dr. Gowhar with other staff members namely mr puneet , miss saima and mr kaushal actively participated, ensuring the smooth and meaningful conduct of the programme.

The overall supervision of the event was provided by Prof. Dr. Rakesh Bahl, Principal, GMC Doda.

The rally commenced from the IPD Block of the Associate Hospital, where students marched with placards and raised slogans to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS. The messages highlighted the responsibility of society towards individuals living with the disease, the importance of prevention, early testing, and the need for a unified and compassionate approach to end stigma and strengthen the AIDS response.

Speaking on the occasion, the faculty emphasized the significance of continuous awareness, community engagement, and the crucial role of healthcare professionals and students in spreading accurate information. The programme aimed to empower the public with knowledge on prevention, safe practices, and timely treatment to help achieve the global goal of ending AIDS as a public health threat.
