Youth Leader of the Indian National Congress, Umar Ashraf alias Salim Ashraf, paid emotional tributes on the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, remembering him as one of India’s most principled and visionary leaders.

Umar Ashraf said that Dr. Manmohan Singh’s life was a shining example of integrity, intellectual honesty, and unwavering commitment to the ideals of the Constitution. He stated that at a time when democratic institutions face serious challenges, Dr. Singh’s legacy reminds the nation of the importance of truth, accountability, and inclusive governance.

Dr. Manmohan Singh strengthened India’s economy with courage and foresight, lifted millions out of poverty, and placed India firmly on the global stage. He believed in empowering the poor, protecting minorities, and governing with compassion rather than arrogance, Umar Ashraf said.

He further added that Dr. Singh’s politics was rooted in service, not spectacle, and that his calm leadership stood in sharp contrast to today’s politics of division and noise. “India needs leaders like Dr. Manmohan Singh now more than ever—leadership who speak less, work more, and put the nation above personal power.
