World Rabies Day 2025 Observed in Doda on September 29, 2025

To observe World Rabies Day 2025, a one-day awareness programme was organized today at Government ANMT School Doda by the IDSP Division Doda under the banner of District Health Society Doda.

The programme was graced by Dy. CMO Doda, Dr. Sat Lal Manhas, as the Chief Guest. Among the dignitaries present were BMO Ghat, Dr. Abdul Gafoor, Principal Government ANMT School Doda, Smt. Vidya Kotwal, Mohd. Shafi Attu (HE), Mr Azhar Iqbal Butt faculty members Ms. Naveeda Anjum and Ms. Saima Kouser. 

On this occasion, Dr. Anzar Majeed, Demonstrator from GMC Doda and Incharge Rabies Section, served as the Guest Speaker. He delivered an insightful lecture on rabies awareness and also gave a detailed presentation, highlighting prevention, control measures, and community responsibilities.

In his address, Dy. CMO Doda, Dr. Sat Lal Manhas, emphasized the importance of public awareness in combating rabies. He urged the participants to spread the message of timely vaccination, safe handling of animals, and immediate medical attention after dog bites. He also appreciated the efforts of the IDSP Division for organizing the programme and sensitizing students and the community.

Principal ANMT School Doda, Smt. Vidya Kotwal, in her speech, highlighted the significance of observing such days to instill responsibility among students. She encouraged students to act as ambassadors of awareness in their communities and lauded the health department for choosing ANMT School as the venue for this important programme.

The programme proceedings were conducted by Sh. Faizan A. Tramboo, ensuring smooth coordination of the event.

The awareness programme aimed to sensitize students and participants about the importance of timely vaccination, preventive strategies, and the global efforts to achieve “Zero by 30” ending human deaths from dog-mediated rabies by 2030.
