Food Safety Department DFCO Organises Second Awareness Program On "Food Fortification And Eat Right" Initiatives At  Doda

Food Safety Department DFCO Doda organised awareness cum training program at Khalleni Doda in which FBO's and locals took part.

The training program was also to focus on the Food Fortification and enrichment  process of adding Micro-nutrients to the Food for good Health of consumers by the govt of India, a policy has been set in to rolling aiming at declining the graph of  various  dietary deficiencies within  population in the Nation which is a countrywide mission.

The mission is to enhance the dedications over the  important challenging issues of malnutrition and dietary deficiency in General public particularly in Children, pregnant women & elders for which the Deptt is taking this mission as an adoration and vital part of the Duties

Elaborating the key issues of malnutrition and dietary deficiency in General public particularly in Children,  Assistant Commissioner Food Safety Doda Taraq Ahmad Butt said, "while complying the directions of   Commissioner FDA J&K, the program of Awareness and training on Food Fortification was to covered  the Frontliner of ICDS POSHAH, FBO's ,Stakeholders and the locals. During the workshop more than 150 Anganwari workers and Supervisors of ICDS, Food Business Operators, other Stakeholders, locals and prominent citizens were present in the program." AD also made deliberations on Food Fortification and "Eat Right initiatives" at length including demonstrations of the products of Fortified Food and its usages with the detailing of health benefits.

The Enforcement Officers  Balbir Singh and Javed Ahmed Bangroo delivered lectures on Food Fortification and instructed the trainees to implement the Govt policy in their projects  especially in  Anganwari Centres to prevent large scale malnutrition and help in bringing down the graph of Anaemia which is still prevalent in children.

Taraq Ahmad Butt Assistant Commissioner Food Safety DFCO Doda further informed that under Aegis of FSSAI, Commissionerate FDA J&K and full & moral  support of District Administration Doda, such programs are being and shall be organized across the District with maximum coverage to ICDS POHAN and Mid Day Meals in charges, Asha workers as well as the Food Business Operators and public in General to provide fortified Food to the children and to the  Consumers to decrease the incidences of nutrient deficiencies to be pursued under "Anemia Mukt Bharat Mission." Eat Right initiatives were explored to counteract the undernutrition and Nutritional deficiency conditions particularly Anaemia so as to make the Anemia Mukt Bharat mission Successful.

"During the training program it was highlighted that Fortification is a practice of increasing one or more micronutrients (vitamins or minerals)in Food products to improve nutritional value," Butt further explained.

"To buckle down the surge of malnutrition and health Challenges including non communicable and life style disorders a mass level Awareness program was conducted and a day long training program was imparted to the participants. This workshop has an objective to address the micronutrient deficiencies through staple Food Fortification. Vitamins and minerals deficiencies as silent epidemics affect people of all ages & regular but most specifically the vulnerable groups include children, women and elders. To earmark the milestone, the Deptt is determined to strive in with High gears to achieve the valued targets," he added.

During the workshop, Brochures, pamphlets and informative printed   material was also distributed to the participants for further propagation of the mission message.
